Choose Your Root Type
Our European Aspen (Populus tremula) trees are available in two root formats, so you can choose the option that best suits your planting season, project and budget.
Bare Root European Aspen
Available seasonally, typically from November to March, bare root European Aspen trees are field-grown and lifted during dormancy with their roots exposed and soil-free.
They are a cost-effective choice for woodland planting, larger landscaping projects and schemes where several trees are required. When planted during the dormant season and given suitable conditions, bare root Aspen trees establish well and offer excellent value.
Rootball European Aspen
Rootball trees are supplied with a firm ball of soil retained around the roots and wrapped in hessian for protection during lifting and transport.
This helps protect the established root system and makes rootball trees particularly suitable for larger specimens. They are a good choice for gardens and landscaping projects where you want a more established tree and greater immediate impact.
Available Sizes & Girth
Our European Aspen trees are graded by girth (trunk circumference), a standard method used for specifying established landscape trees.
Girth gives a useful indication of the maturity and structure of the tree and helps you choose the right size for your garden, woodland or landscaping project.
